Why a whole school

A shared language is a shared culture

Lessons help. A school where adults and children use the same words for feelings helps more.

A culture, not only lessons

“In a HeartWise School, the entrance says one thing above all else: You belong here.” Yasmin Mubarak, HeartWise School

A structure you can explain

The Curriculum Framework sets out the Six Pillars, the five age bands and how they fit, so leaders can describe what children learn and why.

Support for every adult

Teacher books look after the adults who lead each room, so the language lives in people, not only on posters.

Run a pilot term

A practical way to begin

A pilot is one term, a small group of classes and a clear first step. It is a way to begin, not a promise of results.

  1. 1

    Choose your bands

Pick one or two age bands to begin. A pilot does not need to cover the whole school.

  2. 2

    Order the books

Books are sold separately. Tell us what you would like and we will send ordering details.

  3. 3

    Teachers read the Guidebook

Teachers read The HeartWise Teacher Guidebook and the Educator’s Guide for their band before the term starts.

  4. 4

    Begin the weekly curriculum

Start the first term of the thirty-six-week curriculum, one week at a time.

  5. 5

    Use the tools

Bring in the feelings check-in and the planner alongside the lessons.
